Pacific Data Images (PDI) was an American company that made computer animation. It was bought by DreamWorks SKG in the year 2000. After that, the company was renamed PDI/DreamWorks and became part of DreamWorks Animation.
PDI was started in 1980 by Carl Rosendahl. It was one of the first companies to use computers to create animation. PDI made more than 700 commercials for TV. They also added special visual effects to over 70 feature films. PDI helped make many movies for DreamWorks Animation. This included Antz, which was the second computer-animated movie ever made. They also worked on popular movies from the Shrek and Madagascar series.
