Pak Thae-song (Korean: 박태성, born on September 14, 1955) is an important politician in North Korea. Since December 2024, he has held two very significant jobs: the premier of North Korea and the Vice President of the State Affairs Commission. Before these roles, he was the leader of the Supreme People's Assembly from January 2021 to January 2023.

Early Life and Political Beginnings
Pak Thae-song was born on September 14, 1955. He began his career in politics by joining the Workers' Party of Korea. This party is very important in North Korea. He became a member of its Central Committee. Later, he was chosen as a candidate member for the party's Politburo. The Politburo is a group of top leaders who make important decisions.
In August 2012, Pak Thae-song took on another key role. He became a vice chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. This showed his growing importance within the party.
Leading in Different Regions
In May 2014, Pak Thae-song was given a big responsibility. He became the secretary for the party committee in South Pyongan Province. This meant he was in charge of the party's activities in that specific area. He continued to rise in the party ranks. By May 2016, he was again a candidate member of the Party's Politburo.
Key Leadership Positions
Pak Thae-song took on a very important leadership role in April 2019. He became the Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly. This assembly is like a parliament or a law-making body. He led this group until January 2023.
In January 2021, he also became a full member of the Party Politburo. At the same time, he served as a secretary of the Party Secretariat. These roles involve managing the party's daily operations. After his time as Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly, he took on a new challenge. In March 2023, he became the Chairman of the National Emergency Space Science and Technology Committee. Current Major Roles
On December 29, 2024, Pak Thae-song received two of the highest positions in North Korea. He was appointed as the premier of North Korea. The premier is like the head of the government. He also became the Vice President of the State Affairs Commission. This commission is a powerful body that guides the country. He took over the premier role from Kim Tok-hun.
Just recently, on March 22, 2026, Pak Thae-song was re-elected to both of these important roles. He continues to serve as premier and vice president of the State Affairs Commission.
