The pale frog (Litoria pallida) is a small frog that lives in Australia. You can find it in Western Australia, Queensland, and the Northern Territory. It's also known by other names like the pallid rocket frog or peach-sided rocket frog. This frog is quite small and blends in well with its surroundings.

Appearance of the Pale Frog

The adult pale frog can grow to about 4.0 centimeters (about 1.5 inches) long. It's usually a light gray color and might have some stripes on its body. A cool feature is the yellow color you can see on its legs! Its front feet have a little bit of webbing, but its back feet have more webbing, which helps it move around.

Where the Pale Frog Lives

These frogs are quite adaptable! They live in different types of places, including forests and grasslands. You might also find them in caves or rocky areas. They like places where they can find temporary pools of water, which are important for their young.

Life Cycle and Reproduction

The pale frog lays its eggs in temporary bodies of water, like puddles or small ponds that form after rain. A female frog can lay anywhere from 50 to 350 eggs at one time! After the eggs hatch, the young tadpoles grow quickly. It usually takes them about 8 to 10 weeks to change into tiny frogs. Sometimes, if conditions are just right, they can become frogs in as little as 5 weeks!
