About Palestine Village

Location and Size

Palestine is mostly made up of open fields, farms, and a few dozen homes. In 2011, about 283 people lived in the main built-up area of the village. Many of the houses here are built in a bungalow style, meaning they are usually single-story homes.

Getting Around

The main roads in Palestine are Streetway Road, Mount Hermon Road, and Mount Carmel Road.

The village is right next to Grateley, another village. Grateley has a train station. From this station, you can catch South Western Railway trains to London Waterloo and Salisbury. Trains usually run once an hour, but more often during busy times.

Village Life and Boundaries

Villages in England often belong to a "civil parish," which is a local area for managing things like local services. Palestine is part of the Over Wallop civil parish.

Sometimes, the boundary line between two parishes can run through the middle of a road. This is the case with Streetway Road in Palestine. If new houses are built on one side of the road, they might be in a different parish than the houses on the other side. This can sometimes affect how local decisions are made about new buildings.
