Palmetto Island State Park is a cool place in Louisiana, and it's one of the newer parks in the state. You can find it south of Abbeville, Louisiana, in an area called Vermilion Parish. Louisiana bought the land for the park way back in 1981. But they didn't start building it for people to visit until 2002. Because of money problems and other things, the park didn't open until October 28, 2010.
