Pamela J. Joyner (born in 1957 or 1958) is an American businesswoman and a passionate art collector. She is known for collecting African-American art from the 1940s to today. Some people call her an "activist collector" because she works hard to highlight this important art.

Early Life and Education

Pamela Joyner grew up in Chicago, Illinois. Her mother, Gloria O. Joyner, was an English teacher. Her father, Lewis B. Joyner, taught history at a college. Pamela went to the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools.

She later studied at Dartmouth College, earning her bachelor's degree in 1979. She then went on to get her MBA from Harvard Business School.

Career in Business and Art

Pamela Joyner is a founding partner of Avid Partners. This company, based in San Francisco, helps other businesses with their marketing. They work with companies that invest in other businesses.

She is also the co-founder of the Joyner/Giuffrida Collection of Abstract Art. This is a special collection of abstract art, mostly by African-American artists. A book called "Four Generations: The Joyner/Giuffrida Collection of Abstract Art" was written about it.

In October 2017, parts of the Joyner/Giuffrida Collection were shown at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 2019, the Smart Museum of Art honored Pamela Joyner and her collection.
