Paris Square (Jerusalem) facts for kids
Paris Square (which is called Kikar Pariz in Hebrew) is a well-known square or plaza in the city of Jerusalem. It's a busy spot where people gather and traffic moves through. For many years, this square was known as France Square (Kikar Tzarfat).
The Story Behind the Name
The name France Square was first given to this area in 1959. It honored the country of France. Later, in 2007, something special happened. The city of Paris, which is the capital of France, gave Jerusalem a beautiful "French Fountain". This fountain was built right in the middle of the square. Because of this wonderful gift, the square's name was changed to "Paris Square". It's a nice way to remember the friendship between the two cities.
