History of Parks, Arkansas
How Parks Got Its Name
Parks was first settled a long time ago. In 1838, it was known by a different name: White Church. This was the original name given to the community when it was first set up.
Later that same year, in 1838, a post office was opened in the community. This post office was named Parks. The community then started to be known by this new name.
The name "Parks" was chosen to honor the very first postmaster of the area. His name was Cyrus Parks. So, the community was named after him.
