Parque Warner Madrid is a fun theme park located about 23 kilometers (14 miles) southeast of Madrid, Spain. You can find it in a town called San Martín de la Vega. The park first opened its doors on April 6, 2002. Back then, it had a longer name: Warner Bros. Movie World Madrid or Warner Bros. Park Madrid.
At the start, many Spanish groups owned the park. A company called Six Flags helped run it. Later, in 2004, Six Flags stopped managing the park. In 2006, the park changed its name to Parque Warner Madrid. Today, the park is owned and operated by Parques Reunidos. Warner Bros. Discovery Global Brands and Experiences also owns a small part of it.
History of the Park
The park was first built and run as Warner Bros. Movie World Madrid. Many different groups worked together to build it. The Community of Madrid owned the biggest share, and Caja Madrid owned the second biggest.
The park had a big opening party on April 5, 2002. About 10,000 special guests were there, including famous actors like Bo Derek and Christopher Lambert. The park then opened to everyone on April 6, 2002.
In 2004, Six Flags sold most of its parks in Europe. But Warner Bros. Movie World Madrid was not part of that sale. On November 23, 2004, Six Flags stopped running the park. The park's own team took over management. They were still allowed to use all the cool Warner Bros. characters and themes.
In 2006, the park officially changed its name to "Parque Warner Madrid". That year, two exciting new shows started: "Police Academy 2" and "Batman Begins". Visitors really enjoyed these shows. Later, a company called Parques Reunidos started to operate the park. They eventually bought the park completely. Warner Bros. still owns a small part of it.
In 2008, the park added two new attractions. One was a water ride called "Oso Yogui". The other was a new show called "The Music of Bugs Bunny". This show was all about the glitz and glamor of Hollywood. After the new owners took over, the park started to make a profit for the first time in years!
In June 2014, a new water park opened next to the main park. It's called Parque Warner Beach. This water park is huge, covering 30,000 square meters (about 7.4 acres). It has two wave pools, a relaxing lazy river, and two water play areas. Just like the main park, Parque Warner Beach has themes from Looney Tunes, Hanna Barbera, and DC Comics characters.
Awesome Attractions
Parque Warner Madrid has many thrilling rides! Some of the most exciting roller coasters include:
