Former settlement
Country  United States
State  Indiana

Parrotsville was once a small community located in Tipton County and Hamilton County in the state of Indiana, United States. It is known as a former settlement because it no longer exists as an active town or village today. Many places like Parrotsville were planned but never fully developed, or they faded away over time.

The Story of Parrotsville

Parrotsville was officially planned out in the mid-1800s. A person named Edward M. Sharp carefully measured and mapped the area on September 29, 1853. This process is called surveying.

Laying Out the Town

Just a few days after the survey, on October 5, 1853, the town was platted. This means a detailed map was created showing where streets, lots, and public areas would be. It was like drawing a blueprint for a new neighborhood.

Where Was Parrotsville?

Parrotsville was situated about half a mile south of another place called Jackson Station, Indiana. This helped people know its exact location back then.

Selling the Land

Once the town was platted, the land needed to be sold to people who wanted to build homes or businesses there. Benjaman F. Goar was the person in charge of handling all the land sales for Parrotsville.
