Pat John (born 1953, died 2022) was a talented actor from Canada. He was a member of the First Nations people. He is best known for his role in the TV show The Beachcombers. This show was one of the longest-running series in Canadian history.
Pat John belonged to the shíshálh First Nation. He was one of the first Indigenous actors to play a normal, everyday character on television. He played Jesse Jim, who was a business partner with Bruno Gerussi. Their business, "The Persephone," salvaged logs on the CBC series. The show became very popular around the world.

Pat John's Acting Career
Pat John joined The Beachcombers in 1971. He stayed with the show until it ended in 1990. This means he acted in the series for 19 years!
Beyond The Beachcombers
After the original series ended, Pat John appeared in one other TV movie. This was The New Beachcombers in 2002. In this movie, he acted alongside Marianne Jones. She played his wife, Laurel, in the first series.
Pat John's Early Life
Before becoming an actor, Pat John was a student at St. Augustine's Indian Residential School in Sechelt, British Columbia. After leaving school, he worked at a local sawmill.
After Acting
When The Beachcombers finished, Pat John started a new job. He began harvesting clams and other shellfish.
Pat John's Passing
Pat John passed away in Sechelt on July 13, 2022. He was 69 years old.
