Patience Ozokwor (born September 14, 1958) is a very famous Nigerian actress. Many people know her by her nickname, Mama G. She is also a television personality, a fashion designer, and a musician.
Patience Ozokwor has won many awards for her acting. She won the Best Supporting Actress award in both 2012 and 2013. She is well-known for playing strong characters, sometimes even the "villain" or a tough person, in her movies. In 2014, the Nigerian government honored her as one of the top 100 Nigerians. This was to celebrate a special event in Nigeria's history. In 2023, she received the Merit Award at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards.
Early Life and Background
Patience Ozokwor was born in a village called Amaobo, in Ngwo, Enugu State, Nigeria. She went to school in Lagos at Abimbola Gibson Memorial School.
Even when she was in primary school, Patience loved acting. She would perform in different plays on stage. Later, she studied fine and applied arts at the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu.
Before she became a famous actress, Patience worked in radio. She was an announcer and broadcaster for Radio Nigeria. She also acted in a TV show called Someone Cares on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
Patience Ozokwor got married when she was 19 years old. She has four biological children and three adopted children. All her children use her last name. She became a widow in 2000 after her husband passed away. She is also an ordained evangelist, which means she teaches about her faith.
Acting Career
Patience Ozokwor became very famous after starring in the 1999 movie Authority. Her role in the TV drama Someone Cares also helped her rise to fame. Since then, she has acted in more than 100 movies!
She has appeared in many popular films. Some of these include the Netflix movies Chief Daddy (2018) and Chief Daddy 2: Going for Broke (2022). In these movies, she played the character Madam Pat. Her ability to play different kinds of roles has made her a beloved figure in Nollywood, which is the Nigerian film industry.
