Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie (born on May 27, 1990), known as Patoranking, is a famous Nigerian Afrobeats and reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter. He grew up in Ebute Metta, Lagos, sharing a small room with his parents and five brothers and sisters. This simple start in life and his strong family bonds pushed him to work hard and follow his dream of making music.
Patoranking began his music journey by working with other artists like XProject and Konga. In 2010, he signed a record deal with K-Solo's Igberaga Records and released his first song, "Up in D Club." He later teamed up with Timaya on the song "Alubarika," which helped him become a part of Dem Mama Records. In 2014, he signed with Foston Musik and released "Girlie O," a song that made him very popular. In 2015, Patoranking also signed a deal with VP Records. In 2020, he released a song called "Abule" before his album came out. He once shared that he even got inspiration for a song while playing football!

Early Life and Music Career
Patoranking was born and grew up in Ijegun-Egba Satellite Town, but his family comes from Onicha, Ebonyi State. He went to Citizen Comprehensive College and later Jibril Martin Memorial Grammar School.
In 2007, Patoranking moved to Ghana to study at the University of Cape Coast. However, he had to leave school because he didn't have enough money.
After leaving university, he moved to Osu, Ghana. There, he met Lanky, a business owner who signed Patoranking to his music label, Black Rhythmz Entertainment. While with Black Rhythmz, Patoranking also worked at a restaurant and at Accra Mall. After recording some songs, his time with Black Rhythmz ended, and he returned to Nigeria.
Back in Nigeria in 2012, Patoranking joined K-Solo's Igberaga Records. He recorded "Iya Bisi," which featured Qdot and Kbaj. This song mixed dancehall with "fuji" sounds. Patoranking said that Qdot and Kbaj helped him create the song. He also recorded other songs like "Tonight" and "So Nice" with K-Solo's label.
Patoranking shared in an interview that his stage name was given to him by a Jamaican artist he met in Lagos. He looks up to many musicians, including Buju Banton, Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, and Lucky Dube. He describes his music as dancehall that often talks about important social issues.
On September 12, 2013, Patoranking's life changed when he released "Alubarika." This song means "God's Blessings" and features Timaya. The music video for "Alubarika" was directed by AJE Films. Patoranking said this song helped him gain fans and work with famous musicians.
In February 2014, Patoranking signed a new record deal with Foston Musik. He then released "Girlie O," a song produced by "WizzyPro." The music video for "Girlie O" was filmed in London by Moe Musa. In the video, Patoranking shows support for his neighbor who is going through a difficult time.
Foston Musik later released the "Girlie O" (Remix) on May 19, 2014, featuring Tiwa Savage. This remix became very popular and reached No. 9 on MTV Base's Official Naija Top 10 chart. Tiwa Savage said she loved Patoranking's music and wanted to work with him. The music video for the remix was also directed by Moe Musa in London.
Patoranking also appeared on Seyi Shay's song "Murda" with Shaydee. This song was released on April 1, 2014, and its music video came out in May.
His songs "Daniella Whine" and "My Woman, My Everything" also did very well on the MTV Base Official Naija Top 10 chart. "Daniella Whine" reached No. 1, and "My Woman, My Everything" reached No. 2.
To connect with his fans in Ghana, Patoranking returned there and was featured on the remix of Stonebwoy's song "Pull Up" in 2014.
