Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie (born May 27, 1990) is a famous Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is better known by his stage name, Patoranking. He is known for his unique mix of Afrobeats and reggae-dancehall music.

Patoranking was born in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos, Nigeria. He grew up in a small home, sharing one room with his parents and five siblings. His family's support and his own hard work helped him follow his dream of making music.

He started his career by working with other artists. A big moment for him was when he worked with the musician Timaya on the song "Alubarika." In 2014, he released the hit song "Girlie O," which made him very popular. A year later, he signed a deal with VP Records, a major record label for reggae and dancehall music.

Early Life and Starting in Music

Patoranking was born in Ijegun-Egba Satellite Town, Lagos. His family is from Onicha, in Ebonyi State. He went to Citizen Comprehensive College and Jibril Martin Memorial Grammar School for his education.

In 2007, Patoranking moved to Ghana to attend the University of Cape Coast. However, he had to leave because of money problems. He stayed in Ghana and worked at a restaurant to support himself while making music. He later returned to Nigeria to focus on his music career.

How He Got His Name

In an interview, Patoranking explained how he got his stage name. He said a Jamaican artist he met at a beach in Lagos gave him the name. Patoranking's music is inspired by great artists like Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, and Lucky Dube. He says his music has a positive message and often talks about social issues.

Rise to Fame

Patoranking's career took a big turn on September 12, 2013. He released the song and music video for "Alubarika," which means "God's Blessings." The song, featuring Timaya, tells the story of his life and struggles. Patoranking said this song helped him gain many new fans.

In February 2014, he signed with Foston Musik. He then released "Girlie O," a song that quickly became a hit. The music video was filmed in London. In the video, Patoranking helps a neighbor who is being treated badly.

A remix of "Girlie O" featuring famous singer Tiwa Savage was released in May 2014. This version became even more popular and was a top-ten hit on MTV Base.
