Patricia Gallerneau (born September 9, 1954, died July 7, 2019) was a French politician. She was a member of the Democratic Movement political party. She became a member of the French National Assembly on June 18, 2017. She represented the area of Vendée in France.
Early Life
Patricia Gallerneau was born in Paris, France. Her parents came from different regions of France. Her father was also involved in politics in Angers.
Political Journey
Patricia Gallerneau started her political career in 1995. She was elected to the municipal council in Pornichet. This council helps manage local town matters. She later resigned from this role in 1999.
After leaving the municipal council, she joined the Greens Party. She ran in elections for the French parliament in 2002. She also ran in local elections in 2004.
In 2007, she became a candidate for the Democratic Movement party. She led a list for local elections in Pornichet in 2008. Her list finished in last place.
Patricia Gallerneau was chosen to lead her party's list in the 2010 regional elections. These elections choose members for regional councils. She did not get enough votes to win a seat.
She continued to run in various elections. In 2012, she ran for parliament again. In 2014, she ran for the municipal council in Pornichet once more. She also ran in European elections that same year.
In 2015, she became a leader for the Democratic Movement in the Pays-de-la-Loire region. She made an agreement with another political group. This helped her get elected to the Regional Council in December 2015.
Becoming a Member of the National Assembly
In 2017, Patricia Gallerneau was chosen to run for the French National Assembly. This is a very important part of the French parliament. She was supported by her party and another major party.
She won her election in the second round of voting. She officially became a member of the National Assembly on June 21, 2017. She joined a group of politicians from her party.
As a member, she first joined the Committee on Finance. Later, she moved to the Committee of Social Affairs. These committees work on different laws and issues for the country.
Later Life
Patricia Gallerneau became ill in early 2019. She was not able to work in the National Assembly from January 2019. She passed away on July 7, 2019, due to her illness.
