Patricia Leavy went to Boston College. There, she earned a special degree called a Ph.D. in sociology. This means she studied a lot about how societies work.
Her Career
From 2002 to 2012, Patricia Leavy taught at Stonehill College. She was a professor of sociology and also led programs about gender studies and criminology (the study of crime). She also taught at other universities like Boston College and Northeastern University.
In 2012, she decided to leave teaching at universities. She became an independent scholar, which means she continued her research and writing on her own. She also became a novelist and a public intellectual, sharing her ideas with many people. She created a special way of writing called 'social fiction'.
