Patrick Henry (born February 12, 1843 – died May 18, 1930) was an important politician from Mississippi. He served as a member of the United States House of Representatives, which is part of the U.S. Congress. He was also the uncle of another politician named Pat Henry.

Patrick Henry's Early Life and Education
Patrick Henry was born in 1843, near a place called Cynthia, Mississippi. He went to several schools as he grew up. These included Mississippi College and Nashville Military College in Tennessee.
In 1858, he moved to Brandon, Mississippi. This town would become very important in his life.
Serving in the Civil War
When the American Civil War began in 1861, Patrick Henry joined the Confederate army. He started as a first lieutenant. He fought throughout the entire war. By the time the war ended in 1865, he had become a major. He surrendered with his unit in North Carolina.
Becoming a Lawyer
After the war, Patrick Henry worked in farming for several years. He farmed in Hinds and Rankin Counties until 1873.
Then, he decided to study law. In 1873, he passed his exams and became a lawyer. He started his own law practice in Brandon.
A Career in Politics
Patrick Henry had a long career in politics, serving in different roles.
Mississippi State Politics
From 1878 to 1890, he was a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives. He represented Rankin County. This is where laws are made for the state of Mississippi.
In 1890, he was chosen to be a delegate for the state's constitutional convention. This was a meeting to help write or change the state's constitution.
He also worked as an assistant United States district attorney in 1896.
Serving in the U.S. Congress
Patrick Henry was a member of the Democratic Party. He was elected to the United States House of Representatives. He served two terms, from March 4, 1897, to March 3, 1901. In this role, he helped make laws for the entire country.
Later Political Roles
After his time in Congress, he went back to practicing law in Brandon. However, he soon returned to politics.
From 1904 to 1908, he served as a member of the Mississippi State Senate. This is another part of Mississippi's state government that makes laws.
Later in his life, he became the mayor of Brandon. He served as mayor from 1916 until he passed away.
Death and Burial
Patrick Henry died in Brandon, Mississippi, on May 18, 1930, at the age of 87. He was buried in the Brandon Cemetery.
