Patrika Darbo (born April 6, 1948) is a talented American actress. She is well-known for her roles in popular TV shows like Days of Our Lives and The Bold and the Beautiful. Patrika also made her mark in movies such as The 'Burbs and In the Line of Fire. In 2016, she won a special award, a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series, for her work in the online comedy series Acting Dead. Early Life and Education
Patrika Darbo was born on April 6, 1948, in Jacksonville, Florida. Her mom, Patricia, worked as a restaurant hostess, and her dad, "Chubby," managed a nightclub. When Patrika was six, her parents divorced. Her mom later remarried Donald Davidson when Patrika was 11 years old.
Patrika grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. She loved theater and studied it at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. She graduated in 1970. After that, she went to the Atlanta School of Drama to learn even more about acting. Before becoming a full-time actress in 1984, she worked as a credit manager.
Starting Her Acting Journey
Patrika Darbo started her acting career with small roles in TV shows. Some of her early appearances were in shows like The Optimist, Bay City Blues, and St. Elsewhere. She made her first movie appearances in comedies like The Night Before and It Takes Two in 1988.
The next year, she appeared in the comedy films Troop Beverly Hills and The 'Burbs. In 1990, Patrika was in five different movies! She also guest-starred on the popular TV show Roseanne. By 1991, she was working regularly with the ABC network.
From 1991 to 1992, Patrika was a regular on the ABC sitcom Step by Step. She played Penny Baker, the sister of a main character. She also appeared in the action thriller In the Line of Fire in 1993, where she acted alongside Clint Eastwood. In 1994, she played a supporting role in the movie Corrina, Corrina. On TV, she guest-starred in famous shows like Seinfeld and Married... with Children. She even played Roseanne Barr in a TV movie called Roseanne and Tom: Behind the Scenes.
Famous TV Roles
In 1998, Patrika Darbo joined the cast of the NBC daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives. She played the character Nancy Wesley. The show's casting director thought Patrika was perfect for the role because they wanted a "real woman" for the part. She didn't even need to audition! In 1999, Patrika won a Soap Opera Digest Award for being an outstanding new female actress. The next year, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She left the show in 2005 but has returned several times since then, including in 2013, 2016, 2017, and 2022.
Patrika also appeared in horror films like Madhouse (2004) and Hatchet (2006). She played Mrs. Claus in the Christmas movie The Search for Santa Paws (2010). She also guest-starred in many other popular TV shows, including Dexter, Desperate Housewives, The Middle, The Big Bang Theory, and 9-1-1: Lone Star.
From 2017 to 2018, Patrika starred as Shirley Spectra on the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. She briefly returned to the show in November 2018. In 2023, she appeared in the Christmas comedy movie Ladies of the '80s: A Divas Christmas. In 2024, Patrika Darbo announced she would be returning to Days Of Our Lives again as Nancy Miller.
