This group was active along the New York waterfront after the American Civil War. They operated in areas like the old Fourth Ward and Corlears' Hook.

Who Was Patsy Conroy?

Patsy Conroy was known for his leadership skills. He was about 30 years old, five feet seven inches tall, and weighed around 150 pounds. He had black hair and gray eyes. People also noticed some special India-ink marks on his hand.

He became a very experienced leader of a group that operated on the New York waterfront. His group was known for its activities in the old Fourth Ward area.

The Patsy Conroy Gang

Under Conroy's leadership, the Patsy Conroy Gang became very active. They were one of the last groups of their kind operating on the New York waterfront. This was before the special police unit called the Steamboat Squad was formed.

Over time, other members like Denny Brady and Larry Griffin took on more leadership roles in the gang. They helped manage the group's activities.

The Gang's End

Patsy Conroy and Larry Griffin were eventually found responsible for an incident at a home in White Plains in 1874. Denny Brady was also involved in a similar event in Catskill that same year. These events led to the Patsy Conroy Gang breaking up.
