Paul Emrys-Evans first tried to become a Member of Parliament (MP) in the 1929 election. An MP is a person elected to represent a specific area in the country's government. He did not win that election in Leicester West.

However, he was successful in the 1931 election. He was elected as the MP for South Derbyshire. He served in this role for many years. From 1942 to 1945, he also worked as the Under-Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs. This was a special government job. It involved working with countries that were part of the British Commonwealth.

He continued as an MP until 1945. In that election, he lost his seat to Arthur Champion, a candidate from the Labour Party.

Life After Parliament

After he was no longer an MP, Paul Emrys-Evans joined the board of the British South Africa Company. This company had a long history in Africa. He eventually became its President.

His Legacy

Paul Emrys-Evans passed away in Nice in 1967. Lord Salisbury, a respected figure, wrote about him in The Times newspaper. He said that Emrys-Evans was a great person, even if the public did not know him well.

A memorial service was held for him on November 23, 1967. It took place at the Church of St Martin-in-the-Fields in London. His important papers are kept at the British Library.
