Paul Kay Sybrowsky (born August 22, 1944 – died September 10, 2014) was an important leader in education and his church. He was the president of Southern Virginia University (SVU) for a few years. He also served as a general authority for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (often called the LDS Church). Besides these roles, he helped guide other universities.

Paul Sybrowsky's Early Life and School

Paul Sybrowsky was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents were Paul H. Sybrowsky and Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Fowler Sybrowsky.

He studied at what was then called the Church College of Hawaii. Today, this school is known as Brigham Young University–Hawaii. Later, he earned a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University (BYU). He stayed involved with both BYU and BYU–Hawaii. He also helped lead the Provo Public Library board.

Paul Sybrowsky's Career in Business

Paul Sybrowsky had a successful career working for different companies. He was a general manager at American Library Services. This company was part of Ameritech.

He also worked at a big company called Dynix, Inc. This company helped libraries with their computer systems. Paul Sybrowsky was one of the people who started Dynix. During his career, he lived and worked in Canada and England for some time. Later, he helped start another company called Management Dynamics. He started this company with his son, Joel, and others. This company also worked with library services.

Paul Sybrowsky's Church Service

Paul Sybrowsky served as a missionary for the LDS Church. He served in Toronto, Canada, from 1964 to 1966.

After his mission, he held many leadership roles in the church. He was a bishop in London, England. He also served on a high council. He was a counselor in a stake presidency. From 1996 to 2001, he was the president of a BYU stake.

From 2001 to 2004, Paul Sybrowsky was the president of the church's Canada Toronto West Mission. He became a general authority in the LDS Church in 2005. He was part of the Second Quorum of the Seventy until 2011. During this time, he helped lead the church's Australia Area. He also helped with the Church History Department.

Paul Sybrowsky's Family Life

Paul Sybrowsky married Evelyn "Lynne" Frances Prior Sybrowsky. They had nine children together. He met Lynne when he was a missionary in Montreal, Canada. Her family had joined the LDS Church in England and then moved to Canada.

After his mission, Paul and Lynne both studied at BYU. They started dating there. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1968. Paul Sybrowsky passed away on September 10, 2014, when he was 70 years old.
