History
Peabody got its name from a local businessman named James Peabody. He was an important person in the area when the community was being formed.
Post Office Days
A post office was opened in Peabody in 1883. This was a place where people could send and receive mail. It was a very important service for the community back then. The post office stayed open for many years before it closed down in 1923.
