Pebble Hill, also known as Capell, is a small place in Wilcox County, Alabama, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and people living together, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's managed by the county. Pebble Hill is found along Alabama State Route 41. It's about 5.2 miles (8.4 kilometers) southwest of a nearby town called Camden.
A Look Back in Time
Pebble Hill has a short but interesting history. For a while, it was known more by its other name, Capell.
The Capell Post Office
From 1895 to 1915, there was a post office in the community. This post office was named Capell. A post office is a place where people can send and receive mail. Having a post office was important for communities back then. It helped people stay connected and get their letters and packages. The Capell post office served the local residents for about 20 years. After 1915, it closed down, but the name Capell stuck around as another way to refer to Pebble Hill.
