Pecho Dexter (1963–1984) was a very famous American Quarter Horse. He was known for being an amazing show horse. He earned a spot in the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame because he won many top awards.
He won 13 "year-end high point awards" in just four years. This means he was the best in his class for those years! He competed in several different types of horse shows. These included halter (where horses are judged on their looks), western pleasure (a smooth riding style), trail horse (where horses navigate obstacles), and what was then called English Pleasure (now Hunter Under Saddle, a different riding style). Overall, he earned an amazing 1058 points with the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA).

Pecho Dexter was a gelding, which means he was a male horse that could not have foals. He was born in 1963 and passed away in 1984. His beautiful coat was a color called sorrel, which is a reddish-brown.
A Champion Show Horse
Pecho Dexter was a true champion. He won many awards for being the best in his field.
- From 1966 to 1970, he was the AQHA High Point Halter Horse. This means he was judged as the best-looking horse.
- He was also the High Point Western Pleasure Horse in 1966, 1967, 1969, and 1970.
- In 1968, 1969, and 1970, he was the AQHA High Point English Pleasure Horse.
- He even won as the AQHA High Point Trail Horse in 1968 and 1969.

His Family Tree
Pecho Dexter came from a family of famous horses. His father was Poco Pecho. His grandfather was Poco Pine, who is also in the Hall of Fame. He was even related to another legendary horse named Poco Bueno. His mother, Miss Hogan, also had famous ancestors.
Hall of Fame Honors
In 2005, Pecho Dexter was officially inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame. This is a very special honor for horses who have achieved great things. He was also the second horse ever to be inducted into the National Snaffle Bit Association Hall of Fame. These inductions mean his legacy as a top show horse will always be remembered.
