About Pedro Camacho
Pedro Camacho was born in Funchal, a beautiful city in Madeira, Portugal. He started learning how to compose music when he was young. His first teacher was Roberto Pérez, at his hometown's Conservatoire and Arts School. A conservatoire is a special school where people learn music, dance, or drama.
His Musical Journey
After three years, Pedro moved to Lisbon to continue his music studies. He learned more about composing from a teacher named Eurico Carrapatoso at the National Conservatoire. He also learned to play the Piano with different teachers.
Pedro kept learning from Eurico Carrapatoso until 2006. After many years of classical training, he went to Berklee College of Music to learn how to compose music specifically for movies.
Pedro says that making music has been a big part of his life since he was just ten years old! Back then, he would create short musical pieces using an old computer program called OctaMED on an Amiga 500. This was a type of tracker program, which let him arrange sounds and create songs.
His career in concert music began in 2011. He was asked to write a special piece called a Requiem for Inês de Castro. This piece was performed by the Orquestra Clássica do Centro in March 2012. It was a big moment for him!
