Pedro Castro Nero (born 1541 – died 1611) was an important leader in the Catholic Church in Spain. He served as an Archbishop and a Bishop in different cities. He was known for his work in the church during the 16th and 17th centuries.

Early Life and Church Roles
Pedro Castro Nero was born in a town called Ampudia in Spain in 1541. He dedicated his life to the church from a young age. He became a very respected figure.
Becoming a Bishop
In 1599, the King of Spain chose Pedro Castro Nero to become the Bishop of Lugo. This choice was then approved by Pope Clement VIII, who was the leader of the Catholic Church at that time.
On July 18, 1599, he officially became a bishop. This special ceremony is called a consecration. It was led by Juan Fonseca, who was the Bishop of Guadix. Other bishops also helped in the ceremony.
Serving in Segovia
A few years later, in 1603, Pedro Castro Nero was chosen again by the King of Spain. This time, he was confirmed by Pope Clement VIII to become the Bishop of Segovia. He served in Segovia for many years, from 1603 until 1611.
Archbishop of Valencia
In September 1611, Pedro Castro Nero was given an even higher position. He was chosen by the King of Spain and approved by Pope Paul V to become the Archbishop of Valencia. This was a very important role.
Sadly, he served as Archbishop of Valencia for only 16 days. He passed away on September 28, 1611, at the age of 70.
