Pedro González Olivares (born December 12, 1937 – died January 10, 2021) was a talented baseball player from the Dominican Republic. People often called him "Speedy Gonzalez" because he was so fast! He played as a second baseman in Major League Baseball (MLB) for two famous teams: the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Indians. Pedro was special because he was one of the first 15 players from the Dominican Republic to ever play in the big leagues.

Playing in Major League Baseball

Pedro González played in Major League Baseball for five seasons. He started his journey with the New York Yankees in 1963. He stayed with the Yankees until 1965.

Moving to the Cleveland Indians

In the middle of the 1965 season, Pedro moved to a new team. On May 10, 1965, the Cleveland Indians got him in a trade. In return, the Yankees received a player named Ray Barker. Pedro continued to play for the Indians until 1967.
