Early Career as an Illustrator

Peggy Adler started her career as an illustrator in 1958. She was just 16 years old at the time. Her first big project was helping to illustrate her father's book, Weather In Your Life.

That same year, she was the only illustrator for another book called Hot and Cold. Later, she illustrated the children's book Numbers Old and New. Peggy also wrote and illustrated her own puzzle books. These included The Adler Book of Puzzles and Riddles and The Second Adler Book of Puzzles and Riddles.

Peggy Adler's Books

Peggy Adler continued to work as an illustrator for many different publishers. Her drawings appeared in books from John Day Company and Little, Brown & Company. She also contributed to scientific journals like the Journal of Theoretical Biology.

In the mid-1970s, Peggy started writing books again, along with illustrating them. She published Metric Puzzles, Math Puzzles, and Geography Puzzles with Franklin Watts.

After many years, Peggy wrote another book called Images of America CLINTON. This book tells the story of Clinton, Connecticut, from 1663 to today. In 2022, she released Pallenberg Wonder Bears - From the Beginning. Her book Trilogy: Three True Stories of Scoundrels and Schemers came out in 2023.

Investigative Research Work

In 1991, Peggy Adler began working with a man named Richard Brenneke. He claimed to be a former CIA agent. Peggy was hired to help write his life story.

While working on his story, Peggy found information that didn't match his claims. She shared this with a journalist named Frank Snepp. This information helped show that Brenneke's stories were not true.

Peggy continued to work with Snepp on more articles. Their work helped prove that a big story called the "October Surprise" was actually a hoax. Her research was also featured in a book by Robert Parry. She was even interviewed by the TV show Frontline about her findings.

Later, Peggy helped the House October Surprise Task Force. This group was looking into the "October Surprise" claims. She gave them many documents she had collected. Peggy then worked as a consultant for the Task Force. Her experience with Richard Brenneke is the first part of her book Trilogy. The audiobook version of Trilogy, narrated by Peter Coyote, won an award in 2024.

In 2000 and 2001, Peggy was a researcher for journalist Ron Rosenbaum. She helped him with articles about Skull and Bones, a secret society at Yale University. These articles were published in The New York Observer.

Community Involvement

Peggy Adler is very active in her local community in Clinton, Connecticut. She cares about making her town a better place.

In 2005, she raised concerns about a town official. She believed the official had voted unfairly on a land purchase. This led to a review of the town's rules for officials. As a result, Clinton created a new ethics law in 2006. This new law helps make sure town officials act fairly.

Peggy also served as a Police Commissioner in Clinton for eight years. She was first elected to this role in 2005. She has also been part of other important town groups. These include the Design Review Board and the Historic District Commission.

Intelligence Community Connections

In 2000, Peggy Adler helped organize a meeting for the New England Chapter of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers. This group is made up of people who used to work in intelligence.

Peggy explained that the group tries to show that intelligence work is not like spy movies. She said it's much more complex. In 2001, Peggy received an award from this association. It was called the General Richard G. Stilwell Chairman's Award.

Awards and Recognition

In June 2017, Peggy Adler received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. This award honors people who have had long and excellent careers in their chosen fields.
