Pejman Montazeri (born 6 September 1983) is an Iranian former footballer. He played as a defender.

Club Career Highlights

Pejman Montazeri started his football journey with Foolad. He was part of the talented team that won the Iran Pro League in 2005. He also played for Foolad in the 2006 AFC Champions League, which is a big football competition in Asia.

Playing for Esteghlal

After Foolad was moved down to a lower league, Montazeri joined Esteghlal. This is one of Iran's most famous football clubs. He quickly became a key player for them. With Esteghlal, he won the Iran Pro League and the Hazfi Cup. These are two of the most important football trophies in Iran.

He stayed with Esteghlal for many years. In the 2012–13 season, he helped the team win another league title. He also played a big part when Esteghlal reached the semi-finals of the Asian Champions League in 2013. This showed he was one of the best defenders in Asia.

Time in Qatar

In 2014, Montazeri moved to Qatar to play for Umm Salal. When he joined, the team was in danger of being moved down to a lower league. But with his strong leadership, Umm Salal managed to avoid relegation. They finished in a safe 7th place.

Later, in 2015, he signed a two-year contract with another Qatari club, Al Ahli.

Back to Esteghlal

In 2017, Pejman Montazeri made a big decision. He returned to his former club, Esteghlal. He wore his old number 33 shirt. This showed how much he loved playing for the team.

International Career

Pejman Montazeri also played for his country, Iran. He was part of the Iran U-23 squad that played in the 2006 Asian Games.

He was chosen by coach Carlos Queiroz to play in important matches. These included the qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2015 AFC Asian Cup. In 2014, he was part of Iran's team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He played every minute of all three matches for Iran. Even though Iran didn't make it past the group stage, he showed his skill.

He missed the 2015 AFC Asian Cup because of an injury. But he came back strong. He helped Iran qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Iran did not let in a single goal during the qualification games, which was amazing! He was again part of the World Cup squad in 2018.
