The Pepsi fruit juice flood was a huge spill of fruit and vegetable juices in Lebedyan, Russia. About 28 million liters (7.4 million US gallons) of juice flowed into the streets and the Don River. This happened because a PepsiCo warehouse collapsed.

What Happened?

On April 25, 2017, the roof of a PepsiCo warehouse suddenly fell in. This warehouse was in Lebedyan, a city important for Pepsi's work in Russia. It was run by a company called Lebedyansky, which is part of PepsiCo.

The warehouse was full of different kinds of fruit and vegetable juices. When the roof collapsed, all that juice spilled out. It poured into the streets of Lebedyan and flowed into the Don River.

Luckily, no one died in this accident. Only two people had minor injuries.

What Were the Effects?

People were worried that the huge amount of juice might harm the animals and plants in the Don River. However, scientists took water samples from the river. These tests showed that the juice spill did not cause any lasting damage to the environment.

Officials from PepsiCo said they were very sorry for what happened. They promised to pay for all the damage caused by the spill. They also worked with local officials to find out exactly why the warehouse roof collapsed.
