Perintown has an interesting past! It was once known by a slightly different name: Perin's Mills. The community got its name from a man named Samuel Perin. In 1813, Samuel Perin built a watermill there. A watermill uses the power of flowing water to grind grain or do other work. It was a very important building in the early days!

How Perintown Got Its Name

A post office was opened in 1830, and it was first called Perins Mills. Later, in 1890, the name was officially changed to Perintown. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed its doors in 1984.
