History of Pernell
How Pernell Got Its Name
The community of Pernell was named after a person who lived there. His name was Thomas Pernell. It is common for places to be named after important people from their early days.
The Pernell Post Office
For many years, Pernell had its own post office. This post office first opened its doors on June 28, 1922. It served the community for over 80 years.
However, the post office eventually closed. Its last day of operation was December 27, 2003. After it closed, people living in Pernell started using addresses connected to Elmore City. This means their mail now goes through the Elmore City post office.
