The Story of Perrinville

In the middle of the 1900s, the land where Perrinville now stands was mostly covered with trees. People cut down these trees for wood. Later, the land was used for farms and building homes.

Perrinville was officially started in 1938 by a woman named Jennie Gertrude "Gertie" Perrin. She paid a small fee, just 10 cents, to register the name at the courthouse. Soon after, a gas station and a grocery store were built. This helped the small community grow.

The main part of Perrinville, often called "downtown," began to look like an old-fashioned town. It had many different kinds of shops. Gertie Perrin herself owned an antique store there.

In 1999, something exciting happened for local skaters. The cities of Edmonds and Lynnwood worked together. They built a skate park near Lynndale Park. This park has a large concrete surface, about 5,000 square feet (465 square meters), perfect for skateboarding.

Long ago, in the early 1970s, the forested hill behind where the stores are now was a popular spot. People used to ride their motorcycles up this challenging hill.

Where is Perrinville?

Perrinville is located at coordinates 47.831529 degrees North and -122.337722 degrees West. The heart of Perrinville is found where two roads meet. These roads are 76th Avenue West (which used to be called Valley Road) and Olympic View Drive (once known as Snake Trail).

It's interesting because Perrinville is split between two cities. The southeast part of the neighborhood is inside the city limits of Lynnwood, Washington. The rest of Perrinville is part of Edmonds, Washington.

The Famous Perrinville Clown

For a long time, a special piece of art was famous in Perrinville. It was a painting of a clown on an old, abandoned garage. People called it "the clown." This artwork was a local landmark.

The clown was painted by a local artist from Perrinville named Jim Noonan. Eventually, the original owner of the garage removed the clown painting. A plain white door now stands where the colorful clown once was.
