Perry, also known as Perrys Bridge or Pont Berry, is a small community in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own city government. It's also a "census-designated place," which means the government counts its population for official records. In 2020, about 1,171 people lived there.
The community's story began around 1817. A man named Robert Perry, from Kentucky, got a job to build a bridge over a river. This bridge became known as Perry's Bridge. By 1827, Robert Perry owned stores on both sides of the river. He also had a tannery, which is a place where animal hides are turned into leather.
