The Perry River is a small river in Quebec, Canada. It's also known as rivière Perry in French. This river flows into the Palmer River, which then joins the Bécancour River. Eventually, its waters reach the mighty St. Lawrence River. The Perry River travels through two towns: Thetford Mines (specifically the Pontbriand area) and Saint-Pierre-de-Broughton. It's located in the Les Appalaches Regional County Municipality within the Chaudière-Appalaches region.

Where the Perry River Flows

The Perry River starts its journey in the Pontbriand area of Thetford Mines. Its source is on the northern side of a hill called "Montagne du Trois." You can even reach the top of this mountain by following the "chemin des turns" road.

The River's Path

From where it begins, the Perry River flows for about 13.2 km (8.2 mi). Here's how its path unfolds:

  • It flows east for about 2.3 km (1.4 mi).
  • Then, it turns north for about 1.4 km (0.87 mi), passing under a road bridge.
  • It continues north for another 3.1 km (1.9 mi), crossing into the town of Saint-Pierre-de-Broughton. Along this part, it meets the Connolly Stream.
  • Next, it flows northwest for about 3.5 km (2.2 mi), going past a small area called "Custeau."
  • Finally, it travels northeast for about 2.9 km (1.8 mi) until it reaches its end.

Joining Other Rivers

The Perry River eventually flows into the Palmer River. This meeting point is in the town of Saint-Pierre-de-Broughton. It's located about 1.3 km (0.81 mi) upstream from a road bridge.
