Coach Perry Thomas: A Football Journey
Coach Thomas has a long history in football. He started his coaching career helping out at high schools. He was an assistant coach at Allen County Scottsville High School in Kentucky from 1986 to 1987.
High School Coaching
After that, he moved to Campbellsville High School in Kentucky. He was the defensive coordinator there from 1988 to 1991. A defensive coordinator helps plan how the team will stop the other team from scoring. From 1992 to 1999, he became the head coach at Campbellsville High School.
Later, from 2000 to 2007, Coach Thomas was the head coach at Paducah Tilghman High School in Kentucky. He spent many years helping young players grow their skills.
Coaching at Campbellsville University
In 2008, Perry Thomas became the head football coach at Campbellsville University. This is a college team, and he led the Campbellsville Tigers. He coached them for 15 seasons, until 2022.
In 2010, his team had a strong season. They won 7 games and lost 4 during the regular season. They even played in a special game called the Victory Bowl. They played against North Greenville in that game.
Achievements and Records
Coach Thomas led his college team to some great achievements. He helped the Campbellsville Tigers win two division championships. These were the Mid-South Conference West Division titles in 2014 and 2015. Winning a division means his team was one of the best in their part of the conference.
His overall record as a college coach was 65 wins and 90 losses. He also led his teams to three "bowl games," winning two of them. Bowl games are special matches played at the end of the season. He also took his team to the NAIA playoffs twice.
