Peter D. Sieruta (born October 13, 1958, died May 25, 2012) was an American writer. He also worked as a book critic. He was famous for his reviews in The Horn Book Magazine. He also wrote a book of short stories called Heartbeats and Other Stories. Peter Sieruta also had a blog named Collecting Children's Literature.
Peter Sieruta's Writing Career
Peter Sieruta became well-known in 1989. This was when his book Heartbeats and Other Stories came out. It was a collection of nine short stories for young adults. The book received good reviews from School Library Journal and Publishers Weekly.
After this, Sieruta mostly focused on writing reviews. In the early 1990s, he was one of the first people to review books for The Horn Book Guide. He also wrote regularly for The Horn Book Magazine until he died.
Peter Sieruta loved collecting children's books. Because of this hobby, he started a blog in 2007. He called his blog Collecting Children's Books.
Before he died, Peter Sieruta had almost finished another book. This book was called Wild Things!: Acts of Mischief in Children's Books. He wrote it with Betsy Bird and Julie Danielson. The book was published in 2014 by Candlewick Press.
Later Life and Passing
Peter Sieruta died in 2012. He passed away due to problems from a fall he had a few days earlier.
