Peter Thomas Finn (born around 1827 or 1828 – died April 1, 1911) was a lawyer, known as a barrister, in Australia and New Zealand. He also served for a short time as a member of the Victorian Parliament in Australia.

Peter Finn was born in Ireland. He had a younger brother named Hugh Finn. Peter started his university studies at Queen's College in Galway, Ireland.
Moving to Australia and Becoming a Lawyer
In the 1850s, Peter Finn moved to Victoria, Australia. He continued his education at the University of Melbourne. He earned his first degree in 1858 and a master's degree later in 1874.
In 1859, Peter Finn became a barrister. This means he was a lawyer who could argue cases in higher courts. He worked in cities like Melbourne and Ballarat.

On March 6, 1878, Peter Finn married Rosa Helen Champ in Invercargill. Rosa was the daughter of Colonel Champ from Victoria, Australia. Sadly, Rosa passed away on June 13, 1885, when she was 37 years old. She was buried in Invercargill.
Political Interests in New Zealand
Peter Finn supported other politicians in their election campaigns in New Zealand. He even thought about running for parliament himself in the Wakatipu area. However, he decided to step aside for his brother, Hugh, who then won that election. Peter Finn did try to get elected in the Hokonui area in 1881 but was not successful. After this, he did not try to run for parliament in New Zealand again.
Later Years and Passing
Around 1890, Peter Finn returned to Victoria, Australia. He worked as a lawyer for a short time in Melbourne and Ballarat. Later, he moved to Geelong. His final years were spent in Meredith, Victoria.
Peter Finn passed away on April 1, 1911, in Fitzroy, which is part of Melbourne. He was likely at St Vincent's Hospital. He was survived by one son, who was living in Perth at the time of his father's death.
