Petko Petkov (born 3 August 1946 – died 10 January 2020) was a famous Bulgarian football player and manager. He played as a forward, which means he was a player who mainly tried to score goals.
Petkov was born in a place called Sinitevo, Bulgaria. He played for many football clubs during his career. He is best known for playing with Beroe Stara Zagora in Bulgaria and Austria Wien in Austria. He was a very important player for Beroe Stara Zagora. In fact, he scored more goals than anyone else for them in the top Bulgarian league. He scored 144 goals in 260 matches for Beroe.
Petkov also played for his country, the Bulgaria national team. He played 33 games for Bulgaria and scored five goals. After he stopped playing, he became a football manager, helping other teams. Petko Petkov passed away in Stara Zagora on 10 January 2020, when he was 73 years old.

Petko Petkov's Football Journey
Petko Petkov started his football career in 1963. He played for a few different teams before joining Beroe Stara Zagora in 1968.
Playing for Beroe Stara Zagora
Petkov spent a long time playing for Beroe. He played there from 1968 to 1977. He was a fantastic goal scorer for the team. He helped Beroe win the Balkans Cup twice, in 1967–68 and 1969. This was a big achievement for the club.
After a short time with another team, Akademik Svishtov, Petkov returned to Beroe in 1978. He continued to score many goals for them.
Playing in Austria
In 1981, Petkov moved to Austria to play for Austria Wien. This was a big step in his career. While playing for Austria Wien, he helped them win the Austrian Bundesliga in the 1980–81 season. This is the top football league in Austria. He also helped them win the Austrian Cup in 1981–82.

Petko Petkov was known for his amazing ability to score goals. He was the top scorer in the Bulgarian league two times:
- 1973–74 season: He scored 20 goals.
- 1975–76 season: He scored 19 goals.
