Petru Pascari (born September 22, 1929) is a well-known politician from the Soviet Union and Moldova. He served as the leader, or "prime minister," of the Moldavian SSR two different times.
His first term was from April 24, 1970, to August 1, 1976. He returned for a second term from January 10, 1990, to May 26, 1990.
Petru Pascari's Life Journey
Petru Pascari was born in a small village called Stroenți. This village is located in the northern part of Transnistria, in the Rîbnița District.
From 1946 to 1949, he worked at a special school for making wine in the village of Saharna. After that, he went to the Chisinau Agricultural Institute. This school is now known as the State Agrarian University of Moldova.
For ten years, he worked as an agronomist. An agronomist is a scientist who studies how to grow crops and manage farms. After this, he became a minister in the government.
In December 1962, Petru Pascari became a Secretary for the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Moldova. This was a very important leadership role.
He started his first term as prime minister in April 1970. At the same time, he also served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Moldavian SSR. This meant he handled Moldova's relationships with other countries.
In July 1976, he was given a new job as the First Deputy Chairman of Gosplan. This was a high-level position in the Soviet Union's central planning agency.
In early 1990, he came back to Moldova. He then served as prime minister for his second term. In June 1990, he retired and became a personal pensioner. Since then, he has lived in Moscow, Russia.

Petru Pascari has received several important awards for his work:
Order of the Republic: This is a very high honor given by Moldova.
Order of Lenin (2): He received this prestigious award from the Soviet Union twice.
Order of the Red Banner of Labour (2): He also received this Soviet award twice, which recognized his hard work.
