Pfeiffers Corner is a small area in Howard County, Maryland, in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated area. This means it doesn't have its own separate local government like a city or town. Instead, it's directly managed by the county government. This community is located right on the border between two other areas called Columbia and Ilchester.
History of Pfeiffers Corner
Pfeiffers Corner gets its name from the important Pfeiffer family. This family owned a large property nearby called Troy Hill. They were a well-known family in the area.
The Old Schoolhouse
One interesting part of Pfeiffers Corner's history is its old schoolhouse. Built in 1895, the Pfeiffers Corner Schoolhouse was once a place where local children learned. Over time, it was changed into a private home. Later, the building was carefully moved to Rockburn Park, where it can still be seen today. This schoolhouse is a reminder of the community's past and how education was provided in earlier times.
