The Everly Brothers: A Famous Duo
The Everly Brothers started their music journey in 1951. They signed with Cadence Records in 1957. Their very first big hit song was "Bye Bye Love". Interestingly, 30 other music acts had already turned down this song!
"Bye Bye Love" became a huge success. It reached number 2 on the pop music charts. It was only behind Elvis Presley's song, " (Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear". The Everly Brothers are also famous for other popular songs. These include "Cathy’s Clown" and "All I Have To Do Is Dream".
Solo Music and Reunions
After some disagreements, Phil and Don decided to stop performing together in 1973. They both started their own solo music careers. This break lasted for ten years.
In 1983, the brothers decided to reunite! They performed a special concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London. This concert was recorded and shown on TV. After this, they went back to the studio to record a new album called EB '84.
The Everly Brothers were honored in 1986. They were put into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They were the first duo to receive this honor! In the same year, they got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Their last song to appear on the music charts was "Born Yesterday" in 1986. A live recording of "All I Have to Do Is Dream" with Cliff Richard became a UK hit in 1994.

In 1983, Phil had success in the UK with his solo album, Phil Everly. This album was recorded in London. Famous musicians like Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits played on it. The song "She Means Nothing to Me," which featured Cliff Richard, was a top 10 hit in the UK. Another song, "Louise," reached the top 50.
