Philadelphia Mobile Food Association facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Philadelphia Mobile Food Association is a group that helps food truck businesses in Philadelphia. It's like a club for people who own or want to own food trucks. This association works to support these businesses and make sure their voices are heard.

How the PMFA Started

The Philadelphia Mobile Food Association, often called PMFA, was created by two friends, Dan Pennachietti and Andrew Gerson. They started it to give food truck owners in Philadelphia help with organizing their businesses, understanding rules, and even advertising.

PMFA wanted to bring food truck owners together. This way, they could speak with a stronger voice when talking to city departments about rules and permits.

The association began in early 2012, around January and February. They even received some financial help from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Just eight months after starting, PMFA already had 73 members!

Becoming a Member

If you want to join PMFA, food truck owners need to pay a membership fee. This fee can be different amounts, usually between $150 and $500.

To become a member, you must either own a food truck, be planning to own one, or be involved in helping mobile food businesses.
