Philip Lund's Playing Career
Philip Lund played as a forward, which means he was usually trying to score goals for his team. He played for several clubs in different countries during his career.
Starting in Denmark
Lund started his football journey with his hometown club, Vejle Boldklub. He joined their youth teams and worked his way up. Between 2008 and 2011, he even played in two matches for the senior team in the Danish Superliga, which is Denmark's top football league.
In July 2010, Lund was loaned to Kolding FC to gain more experience. He returned to Vejle in June 2011. After leaving Vejle in December 2011, he signed with FC Fyn. Both Kolding and Fyn played in the Danish 1st Division, which is the second-highest league in Danish football. Lund left FC Fyn in 2013.
Playing in the United States
On March 22, 2013, it was announced that Lund had signed with Seattle Sounders FC. This team plays in Major League Soccer (MLS), the top football league in the United States and Canada. He joined after impressing coaches at a special tryout.
Lund made his first league appearance for Seattle on April 12, 2013. He came into the game as a substitute in a match against the New England Revolution. He played in 5 games for the Sounders but did not score any goals. He left the club in November 2013.
After leaving Seattle, Lund signed with Oklahoma City Energy FC for the 2014 season. This team was coached by another Dane, Jimmy Nielsen. Lund had a good start with Oklahoma City, scoring three goals in 8 games. However, in April 2014, he got a hip injury that kept him from playing for many months.
Time in the Faroe Islands
After his time in Oklahoma City, Lund went back to Denmark for a trial with his old club, Vejle BK. On July 22, 2015, Lund signed a one-year contract with B36 Tórshavn. This team plays in the Effodeildin, which is the top football league in the Faroe Islands. He played 18 league games for B36 and scored 4 goals. He left the club after the 2015 season ended.
Philip Lund's Coaching Career
After finishing his playing career, Philip Lund started coaching. He worked as an assistant coach for the Seattle Sounders FC U23 team for several years. During this time, he also played indoor soccer for the Tacoma Stars.
Later, he also worked as a football coach at Eastside Catholic School. In February 2025, Lund was named an assistant coach for Vancouver FC, a team in the Canadian Premier League.
