Pia Bech Mathiesen (born January 31, 1962 – died February 20, 2016) was a talented designer and businesswoman from Denmark. She was a leader in the world of design. Pia also led the Danish Design Council. She was the CEO of Universe, a science amusement park. This park is located on the island of Als.
About Pia Bech Mathiesen
Pia Bech Mathiesen was born in 1962. She loved design and studied it at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. She finished her studies there in 1987.
After that, she continued to learn more. She studied design and economics at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1988. Later, in 1994, she studied economics and how organizations work at Copenhagen Business School.
Her Work and Leadership
Pia Bech Mathiesen was in charge of design for the Danish national railway company, DSB. She worked there from 1996 to 2010. This means she helped design many things for trains and railway stations.
In 2013, she joined Universe, the science amusement park. As CEO, she was the main leader of the park. She helped make it a fun and educational place for visitors.
Pia also held important positions on different boards. She was on the board of the Danish Design Museum. She also helped lead the Danish Design Council. She was part of the Design School Kolding and the University of Southern Denmark. From 2014, she was the chairperson for the Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester, which is a symphony orchestra.
Pia Bech Mathiesen passed away on February 20, 2016, when she was 54 years old. She left behind a legacy of great design and leadership.
