History of Piccadilly Restaurants
The first Piccadilly Cafeteria opened in 1932. It was started by Thomas J. Costas. This first restaurant was in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 1944, Tandy Hannibal Hamilton bought the business.
Piccadilly grew bigger in 1998. It bought Morrison’s Cafeterias. Morrison's was a big competitor. This purchase doubled Piccadilly's locations. They had 270 restaurants after this. But the company faced problems. It had to file for bankruptcy in 2003. After this, Yucaipa Companies bought Piccadilly. Diversified Investment Management Group also became an owner.
Piccadilly faced financial trouble again in 2012. The company had only 41 locations left. Falcon Holdings bought Piccadilly in 2014. Azam Malik, a former CEO, led Falcon Holdings. In 2018, Piccadilly started expanding again. They opened their first Piccadilly To-Go place. This was in Cordova, Tennessee. A new "prototype" restaurant opened in 2019. This was in Juban Crossing. It is near Denham Springs, Louisiana. This location was designed for future growth.
As of April 2024, Piccadilly has 29 locations. These are in several states. You can find them in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Virginia. On August 16, 2022, Piccadilly bought K&W Cafeterias. K&W had 11 locations.
