Who Takes Care of the Park?

The Pico Bonito National Park Foundation (FUPNAPIB) helps manage this special place. This group is a non-profit organization. They work to protect the park's natural resources. FUPNAPIB was officially formed in 1993. They work with the government to care for the park.

FUPNAPIB has several important programs. They work on forest protection to keep the trees safe. They also help manage all the park's resources. The foundation teaches people about the environment. They also work on gender equality in local communities.

Helping the Environment

In 2005, FUPNAPIB started a special project. They teamed up with the EcoLogic Development Fund and the World Bank. This project helps capture and store carbon. This helps reduce the negative effects of climate change. The project also gives jobs and training to local people. They learn about planting new trees (reforestation) and smart farming (agroforestry).
