Main Sights in Pieve Ligure
Pieve Ligure has some interesting historical buildings. These places tell stories about the town's past.
Churches and Oratories
The town gets its name from the pieve (a type of old church) of St. Michael Archangel. This church was rebuilt in the 1700s in a fancy style called Baroque. It holds important artworks inside. Another important church is the Oratory of St. Anthony Abbot. This building is even older, dating back to the early 1400s.
Castello Cirla
The Castello Cirla is a unique building in Pieve Ligure. It started out as a medieval tower. This tower was built to defend against attacks, possibly from Saracen pirates long ago. In 1909, it was changed into a private home.
Government and Location
Pieve Ligure is part of the Metropolitan City of Genoa. This means it's one of the many towns that make up the larger Genoa area. The town is led by a mayor, who helps manage the local government. Pieve Ligure is located on the coast, which is a common feature of towns in the Liguria region.
