Discovering Pikeville's Past
Pikeville was first planned and settled in the year 1859. The community received its name from Pike County, the larger area where it is located.
The Pikeville Post Office
A local post office was opened in Pikeville in 1867. This allowed residents to send and receive mail right in their own community. The post office served the area for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1938.
