All About the Pilica River
Where is the Pilica River?
The Pilica River is found entirely within Poland. It starts its journey in the southern part of the country and flows generally northwards. As it travels, it passes through several different regions, including the Silesian Voivodeship, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, Łódź Voivodeship, and Masovian Voivodeship.
Pilica's Size and Importance
The Pilica River is quite long! It stretches for about 319 kilometres (or nearly 200 miles). This makes it the 8th longest river in all of Poland. The area that the Pilica River and its smaller streams drain is called its basin. This basin covers a large area of 9,273 square kilometres (about 3,580 square miles), all of which is within Poland. This means the Pilica plays a big role in the water systems of central Poland.
