Where is Pine Bush Located?

Pine Bush is surrounded by other small towns and communities. To the south, you'll find Waimahaka. If you head north, you'll reach Glenham and Mataura Island. On the other side of the Mataura River, to the west, is Gorge Road. These nearby places help connect Pine Bush to the rest of the region.

A Bit of History: The Railway

For many years, a railway line played a big part in the life of Pine Bush and its neighbours.

The Tokanui Branch Railway

From 1899 until 1966, the Tokanui Branch railway line ran just south of Pine Bush. This railway was important for transporting goods and people in the area. While Pine Bush didn't have its own station, the nearby community of Titiroa did. The railway helped connect these smaller communities to larger towns and cities. Even though the railway is no longer there, it's a cool part of the area's history!
